{"id":1783,"date":"2025-05-03T10:57:07","date_gmt":"2025-05-03T14:57:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/caac-ma.org\/?p=1783"},"modified":"2026-01-07T19:37:23","modified_gmt":"2026-01-08T00:37:23","slug":"the-5th-aapi-book-drive-for-cps","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/caac-ma.org\/?p=1783","title":{"rendered":"The 5th AAPI book drive for CPS"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The Chinese American Association of Cambridge (CAAC) kicked off its 5th AAPI Book Drive in the beginning of May, marking the start of Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-buttons is-content-justification-center is-layout-flex wp-container-core-buttons-is-layout-16018d1d wp-block-buttons-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-button is-style-outline is-style-outline--1\"><a class=\"wp-block-button__link has-red-background-color has-background has-text-align-center wp-element-button\" href=\"https:\/\/caac-ma.org\/?page_id=70\" style=\"border-radius:20px\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Donate<\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<script type=\"module\" src=\"https:\/\/donorbox.org\/widgets.js\" async><\/script><dbox-widget campaign=\"the-5th-aapi-book-drive-for-cps\" type=\"donation_form\" enable-auto-scroll=\"true\"><\/dbox-widget>\n\n\n\n<p>The fundraising period runs from May 2025 through February 2026. Every dollar raised will go toward purchasing new books by AAPI authors, which will be donated to schools in Cambridge. Donations are accepted via PayPal, Venmo, and Zelle. Visit our&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/caac-ma.org\/?page_id=70\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">donation page<\/a>&nbsp;for further details on how to contribute.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Highlights from Past Book Drives<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Since 2021, CAAC has held four AAPI book drives, raising a total of $31,741 and donating over 2,240 books:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>2021-2022 School Year:<\/strong>&nbsp;Raised $12,374 and donated 955 books to 33 schools in Cambridge and Somerville. (CPS instagram&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/tv\/CZrws-6F7Q8\/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link&amp;igsh=MzRlODBiNWFlZA==\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">post<\/a>)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>2022-2023 School Year:<\/strong>&nbsp;Raised $5,538.62:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>$4,341.66 for Cambridge, donating 270 books across 17 CPS schools.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>$1,241.31 for Somerville, with funds currently being processed for donation by our partner, the Somerville Asian Family Network (SAFN).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>2023-2024 School Year:<\/strong>&nbsp;Raised $8,419.94, donating 702 books and sponsoring a talk by author Kelly Yang for all 4th and 5th graders in CPS schools.
