AAPI Book Wishlist 2025/2026: Supporting Diverse Voices in Cambridge Schools and Beyond

The Chinese American Association of Cambridge (CAAC) has been a driving force in promoting Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) literature through its annual AAPI Bookdrive initiative. Since 2021, CAAC has organized five successful book drives, raising over $31,741 in total and facilitating the donation of more than 2,240 books to school libraries in Cambridge and Somerville. These efforts, supported by generous community donations via PayPal, Venmo, and Zelle, ensure that new titles by AAPI authors reach young readers, with all proceeds directed toward purchasing and donating these books. The current drive runs from May 2025 to February 2026, building on past successes like the 270 books donated to 17 Cambridge Public Schools (CPS) in the 2022-2023 cycle and 702 in 2023-2024.

In close collaboration with the Cambridge Public School Libraries, CAAC curates an annual AAPI book list featuring the latest publications from AAPI authors. Librarians play a key role in this process, selecting titles that highlight fresh voices and perspectives, including some that have earned prestigious awards for their literary excellence. This wishlist serves as a targeted guide for librarians, enabling them to acquire these impactful books using funds raised through the Bookdrive.

Beyond the classroom, the list extends its reach as an invaluable resource for broader audiences. It offers thoughtful recommendations for discovering the newest releases in AAPI literature, fostering greater appreciation and inclusion in homes, community centers, and personal reading lists alike. Whether you’re a parent, educator, or avid reader, this curated selection is a gateway to vibrant, award-winning stories that celebrate AAPI experiences.
