Want to Race in the Boston Dragon Boat Festival 2026? Join the Cambridge Community Dragon Boat Team!
The Chinese American Association of Cambridge (CAAC) is excited to recruit paddlers for our Cambridge Community Dragon Boat Team! We’re gearing up to compete in the 47th Annual Boston Dragon Boat Festival on Sunday, June 14, 2026, along the beautiful Charles River. This is the oldest dragon boat festival in the U.S., featuring over 70 teams, thrilling races, cultural performances, arts, crafts, and food trucks—it’s a fantastic community event drawing thousands of attendees!
No prior experience is required—beginners are absolutely welcome! Whether you’re looking for a fun way to stay active, build teamwork skills, or connect with the community, dragon boating is an exhilarating sport that’s accessible to all fitness levels. Our team is inclusive, supportive, and focused on having a great time while paddling to victory.
What to Expect:
- Training Sessions: We’ll hold four required practices on the Charles River at the MIT Richard J. Resch Boathouse (409 Memorial Drive, Cambridge, MA). Sessions are typically in May and early June (exact dates for 2026 TBD—stay tuned for updates once team registration opens in January).
- Pre-Race Prep: A final tune-up session the day before the festival, on Saturday, June 13, 2026.
- Race Day: Mandatory participation on June 14, 2026—join us for the adrenaline rush of synchronized paddling in a 40-foot dragon boat!
- Registration Fee: $40 per person, covering all training and racing costs (an optional team shirt may add $20—details to follow).
Transportation is easy: Take the #1 or CT2 bus and walk a short distance, or find street parking on Memorial Drive or Vassar Street.
