Year-end Fundraising for 3rd CAAC AAPI book drive

Dear friends and sponsors,

Would you please consider donating to the 3rd CAAC’s AAPI book drive for Cambridge public school (CPS) libraries? The Chinese American Association of Cambridge (CAAC) is fundraising to purchase newly published AAPI author’s books to donate to the 17 CPS school libraries.

Every year since 2021, the CPS Library Media Department directors lead their team to create a new book list (here is the third one), which is the school librarians’ wish-list, that includes the titles recently published by Asian American and Pacific Islanders (AAPI) authors. We believe these books can help students further understand Asian and AAPI culture. And CAAC helps schools fundraise and purchase the books.100% of the raised money goes to books.

Last year, the district received 270 books for 17 schools (cost $4282.44); and the year before, CPS received 770 books, DHSP preschools received 70 books, Somerville public school libraries received 115 books (cost $12,374 in total). More details of previous book drives can be found here.

We really appreciate the help from all the individual donors, supporters, corporate and university sponsors to make it happen!

The fundraising goal for this year is $10,700 for 650 books, including 100 books that will be purchased on the author visit event of Kelly Yang (book series “Front Desk” author) with all 5th graders from 12 elementary public schools in Cambridge.
