About this event

Lunar New Year is the year’s biggest celebration in East and South Asia. Chinese American Association of Cambridge (CAAC), one of the most prominent local Asian community non‐profit organizations in Cambridge, will bring the 5th annual  Lunar New Year celebrations to the Cambridge community and surrounding communities.

The event has three parts:

  • 12:30~2pm The culture fair : at the cafeteria more than 20 booths with interactive cultural experiences such as Chinese calligraphy, paper cutting, tanghulu, raffle and more.
  • 2~4pm The Performance : at the theatre more than 25 performances, such as, Peking Opera, ballet, lion dance, dragon dance, kung fu, raffle and more.
  • 4~4:30pm Take home the New Year Blessings, at the cafeteria, free Chinese snacks and calligraphy Fu(福)

Program

This is the 2nd annual in-person lunar new year celebration event CAAC organized. Last year’s event was also hosted at high school, and some video can be found here.

Accessibility

The theater is wheelchair accessible, please reach out to the security staff at the event if you need any help.

Public transportation

Take the red line to Harvard Square. Get off at Harvard Square. Walk down Massachusetts Ave towards Central Square to Quincy Street. Turn left on Quincy Street and walk to Broadway. Turn right on Broadway. CRLS is on your left a short distance from Quincy Street. If you are coming from highway Route 2 you can park at the Alewife MBTA station and take the MBTA. Parking around CRLS is limited so it may be easier to take the MBTA.

Parking

Street parking. On Sunday, cars can park in any legal spot in Cambridge, including Resident-Only spots, and all parking meters are free.
